WITCHES ON THE RUN!! A CALL FOR ACTION!!

Recently the International Humanist and Ethical Union  The world union of Humanist organizations and other human rights group in Nigeria released a statement against the most recent religious campaign by Helen Ukpabio themed the WITCHES ON THE RUN, Apparently there have been a lot of close calls in the past of children been disowned and all sorts of atrocities and judgement passed on such children believed to be witches and wizards.

As horrible as this sounds this is what religion has turned into as people look for quick fixes to prosperity and a reason to blame their misfortunes on so called attacks from the village and sometimes are even deceived to believe that their own children are witches causing their downfall.
Yes Ephesians 6 verse 12 says 'For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places' it does not mean that every problem must now be a witch or deliverance. Most times some problems are self inflicted. For instance a Pastor tells you, 'You will be prosperous, in one week you will get a breakthrough and you sit down in your house waiting for the money to show up without matching the words with action,in that case poverty will continue chasing you.
 
So if my son wakes up and tells me he dreamt he was a superhero flying like superman, I will quickly take him to a church to heal him of witchcraft NO! NO! NO!.
According to a human rights lawyer in Calabar, Nigeria Barrister James Ibor - from the Basic Rights Counsel some cases have led to the death of innocent children. he also stated that her acts are illegal under section 216 of the Nigerian Criminal code. Yet so far there have been no interventions by the State or Police.
In my opinion what the human rights groups need to do is to sue Helen Ukpabio to court and stop posting on the Cross River State twitter page with all this calls for action saying Cross River State should stop the witch hunt,PLEASE CROSS RIVER IS NOT INVOVED IN ANY WITCH HUNT, this issue is a religious matter and the Nigerian constitution deserves every individual the right to practice what they believe in but as it stands please take her to court and let the law decide, it will truly help in curbing this rising menace.
This is festival time, Cross River remains the safest State in Nigeria so please send an official petition to the relevant quarters, The festival countdown is on and we invite everyone to join in the festivity..

THE CROSS RIVER STATE GOVERNMENT COLLABORATE WITH OIL PALM GROWERS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (OPGAN) TO CREATE THE LARGEST SUSTAINABLE SMALL HOLDERS OIL PALM ECONOMY IN AFRICA In a deliberate and strategic move by the Cross River State Government to invest in the agricultural sector and fulfill and implement its vision, the State Governor, his excellency, Sen. Prince Bassey Otu has accepted to adopt the proposal of the Oil Palm Growers Association of Nigeria (OPGAN) as an immediate initiative to boost agriculture in the state. The collaboration/partnership between the Cross River State Government and OPGAN is to create an Oil Palm revolution across the entire value chain which will involve the establishment and management of nurseries, plantations, logistics, processing/milling, storage, refining, manufacturing, sales/distribution, access to local and international markets which shall be jointly executed with the Nigerian Institute for Oil Palm Research (NIFOR)

Cross River State Partners with 3MTT to Ignite Tech Industry.

In a move to propel the state's creative and digital economy, the Cross River State government has partnered with the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative. This collaboration is set to empower Cross River's tech landscape. Great Ogban, Director-General of the Cross River State Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency (CRSMEDA), highlighted a multifaceted support system. This will encompass training programs, infrastructure development, and resource distribution through starter kits to jumpstart tech ventures.
