 *Otu secures $3.5bn Afreximbank funding for Bakassi Deep Seaport*  Cross River State government, has secured a $3.5 billion funding from the Pan-African multilateral financial institution, African Export-importbank (Afreximbank) for some of its key infrastructure projects in the state. Governor Bassey Otu, who was in Egypt, last week for a workshop, also visited the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in Cairo, to explore partnership in key infrastructure projects to be undertaken in the state.  The workshops held during the visit, which culminated in the signing of a project preparation facility for the development of a deep seaport estimated to cost $3.5 billion. Cross River State Partners with 3MTT to Ignite Tech Industry.

In a move to propel the state's creative and digital economy, the Cross River State government has partnered with the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative. This collaboration is set to empower Cross River's tech landscape. Great Ogban, Director-General of the Cross River State Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency (CRSMEDA), highlighted a multifaceted support system. This will encompass training programs, infrastructure development, and resource distribution through starter kits to jumpstart tech ventures. "We're establishing a comprehensive database encompassing MSMEs across various sectors, including creative, digital, agricultural, and manufacturing," said Ogban. "By understanding our SMEs, we can effectively empower them." Governor Bassey Otu has announced that his administration is ready to meet the counter-funding requirements of the Federal Rural Electrification Agency (REA) to provide mini-grid power supply to rural communities.  This move is aimed at boosting the micro-economies of the state and improving productivity levels, especially in the agricultural and rural communities. Speaking during a courtesy call to him in Calabar, by the REA management team, Governor Otu expressed his administration's willingness to meet the 30 percent counterpart funding, which is necessary for attracting REA's interventions.  He emphasized the importance of power supply in powering the rural economies to achieve energy and food security for the people of Cross River. The Federal Government's Investment in Digital and Creative and Enterprises (i-DICE) program is valued at $617 million.
