Cross River Partners with iKapture to Host 2024 Technovation Challenge

The Cross River State Government, in collaboration with the iKapture network, is proud to announce their hosting of the South-South regional Technovation Challenge. The event will be held on May 17th and 18th, 2024, at the conference hall of the Prof. Eyo Ita House located along Marian Road, Calabar.

This exciting initiative was announced during a courtesy visit by iKapture delegates to the Director General of the Cross River State Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency (CRSMEDA), Great Ogban. Mr. Ogban expressed his strong support for the program.

According to Mr. Ogban, the Technovation Challenge aligns perfectly with both the "People First" mandate of the Cross River State Governor and the global movement to increase female participation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields.

The event will be a gathering of female tech enthusiasts between the ages of 8 and 18. Over 20 teams, comprised of more than 148 young girls, will participate. These young minds are on a mission to create positive social change through the development of innovative applications.

It's worth noting that Cross River State made history in 2015 when the quartet of Praise David-Oku, Sonam Kumar, Nmesoma Ogbonna, and Grace Akpoiroro, called Team Charis, claimed the Technovation global championship with their impressive waste management app 'Discardious'. This year's challenge promises to cultivate even more future tech stars.

The iKapture delegation included Victoria Ephraim (Club Ambassador), Blessing Obio-offiong (Finance Manager), and Francess Effiong (Communications Manager). CRSMEDA management staff were also present for a productive meeting.
